The "Fat Burning Furnace" is an e-book developed by a husband and wife team Rob and Kalen Poulos of Michigan, formerly unsuccessful dieters who now say they’ve discovered the best and most efficient technique for boosting your metabolism, losing weight and keeping it off 1. The e-book gives you step-by-step instructions for achieving these goals. The couple claims Rob lost 42 lbs. and Kalen lost 59 lbs. using "Fat Burning Furnace" techniques 12. Always consult a health care provider before starting a new diet or exercise plan.
The "Fat Burning Furnace" does not require you to count calories or to take supplements 1. It does advise you to follow a plan that outlines what to eat and when to eat it. The plan uses real food that you can purchase at the grocery store. It also emphasizes plant-based foods over animal foods. That makes it easily adaptable for you if you are a vegetarian, according to the product website.
Emphasis on Exercise
The cornerstone of the "Fat Burning Furnace" program is strength training to building lean muscle mass 1. A break-in routine is provided so that if you are sedentary you can use the plan. According to the product website, building muscle is the best way to “ignite” your fat burning furnace, so you must aim to “activate” as much lean muscle mass as you can 1. While the diet's creators claim to have revolutionary secrets, many weight loss plans utilize this concept. Muscle is more metabolically active than fat, so replacing fat with muscle makes good fat-burning sense. When you increase your resting metabolic rate, you actually burn more calories while doing nothing than you did before, which turns your body into a "fat-burning furnace," say Gregg Cook and Fatima D'Almeida-Cook, authors of “The Gym Survival Guide. 14”
You do not have to join a gym to perform the strength-training exercises in the "Fat Burning Furnace" plan, but having access to resistance training equipment is advised if you are “really serious about finally achieving your lifelong health and fitness goals,” notes the product website 1. At minimum you should have a bench and a pair of adjustable dumbbells. Also, while Rob Poulos acknowledges that spot reducing does not work, the diet website says you can purchase a deluxe version of the plan that includes specific targeting routines for problem areas like your tummy and thighs. These routines are meant to help you “maximize the leanness and shape” in problem areas.
The "Fat Burning Furnace" website claims that quick strength increases will be your immediate result from following the plan 1. You’ll see fat loss within a couple of weeks. You are likely to shed 5 to 10 lbs in the first two to four weeks, according to the product website. You'll need to work out two to three times per week for "just a few minutes" to build your fat-burning lean body mass according to the plan, which also is known as the "15 Minute Miracle."
The "Fat Burning Furnace" plan is hyped like an infomercial and has poor feedback on several websites, note the experts at Diets in Review 1. However, the plan does come with a 60-day money back guarantee. Zero to Hero Fitness, which does business as FatBurningFurnace.com, has been a Better Business Bureau Accredited Business since October 2009 2. As of 2013, all 82 complaints against the company in the prior 36 months had been closed. However, 65 of these are “assumed resolved” by the bureau. The majority of complaints were for refund or exchange issues, tallying 31 grievances. The second highest complaint category is with delivery issues, netting 21 complaints. Selling issues racked up eight complaints, and advertising issues brought in an equal number. Five complaints were for customer service issues, four complaints were for product issues, three were for billing or collection issues and service issues and contract disputes each netted one complaint.
