Jarrow's Bone-Up supplement is a calcium supplement taken to promote bone density 1. It contains an ossein hydroxyapatite complex, a form of calcium, taken from free-range Australian or New Zealand calves. Its primary use as directed by Jarrow is to strengthen the substances of the bone tissue known as the bone matrix 1. Jarrow recommends taking the supplement regularly for the best effect. Always check with your health care provider before taking any supplements.
It also contains trace amounts of soy. It does not such allergens as wheat, gluten, dairy, eggs, fish, peanuts or other tree nuts.
Jarrow recommends taking three capsules twice per day with meals to total six capsules per day. This facilitates maximum absorption. Consult with your physician about doing; the doctor may recommend a lower or higher dosage depending on your particular health needs.
Jarrow claims that adequate calcium intake as part of a healthy diet and physical activity may reduce the risk of osteoporosis. The company also claims that bone density loss is not only associated with calcium deficiencies, but also with other nutrient shortages. These nutrients, which include:

- are purportedly incorporated into the bone matrix when using Bone-Up as directed
It can be difficult to determine the quality of a dietary supplement simply from the label. The Food and Drug Administration does not evaluate statements made by supplement manufacturers such as Jarrow. In fact, according to FDA regulations, Jarrow cannot claim that using its product will treat, cure or successfully prevent any disease.
