Information on Nature's Sunshine VS-C
VS-C is an herbal preparation designed to support the immune system, according to its producer, Nature’s Sunshine which sells its products in 30 countries. The company focuses on using herbs and other dietary aids to help support the body’s health and to treat illness and has developed more than 600 products with these goals in mind.
A health care provider should be consulted before taking this or any herbal preparation.
VS-C is only available through Nature’s Sunshine. The product was developed by Dr. Wenwei Xie and has its basis in Chinese medicine. According to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, traditional Chinese medicine has been practiced for more than 5,000 years.
VS-C contains a combination of botanical ingredients: dandelion root, purslane, indigo leaves and root, thlaspi, bupleurum root, typhonium rhizome, scute root, cinnamon twig, licorice root and ginseng root.
Nature’s Sunshine states that these herbs are combined with the intention of supporting the immune system, combating harmful microorganisms, and supporting the liver’s health.
According to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, dandelion has been historically used to treat liver diseases. The historical use of licorice root is to contribute to a healthy throat and to protect against viruses. Ginseng also enhances the immune system. The antioxidant and antimicrobial properties of typhonium rhizome were discussed in a study published in the American Journal of Biochemistry and Biotechnology in 2008. According to the study, extracts from typhonium contain a considerable ability to help combat bacterial growth.
This product will help your body maintain a level of health that will help prevent you from getting sick, according to Nature’s Sunshine. By supporting both your immune system and your liver’s health, VS-C strengthens your body to combat invading microbes and to eliminate toxins.
VS-C is provided in both capsule and liquid form. The product label suggests four capsules, or 30 to 40 drops of the liquid form two to four times per day for adults. Children should take half the recommended adult dose.
Before beginning any type of alternative medicine therapy, be sure to check with your health care provider. Some herbal supplements can interact with medications or have other health implications. Additionally, if you are pregnant or lactating, be sure to consult your doctor before taking VS-C.
