Red Robin Restaurant Nutrition Information

By Steven Lalevich ; Updated April 18, 2017

Red Robin is a popular dining destination for burgers and other meal offerings. As with many restaurants, the nutritional profiles of many of Red Robin’s menu options are very high in calories, fat and sodium. It is best to be aware of the total nutritional burden of your meal at Red Robin in order to make the best meal choice for your specific nutritional needs.

Red Robin offers a variety of appetizers, which may provide you with enough calories for your entire meal, or even your entire day. For example, according to Red Robin’s website, the Nacho Ordinary Chili Nachos with Chicken appetizer provides a whopping 2,084 calories, 134 g of fat and 4,045 mg of sodium. That’s about a day’s worth of calories, and two day’s worth of fat and sodium, according to the Mayo Clinic. If you are having an appetizer at Red Robin, plan on sharing it with a few friends.

If you still have room after the appetizer, you may be inclined to try one of Red Robin’s burgers. Without including sides or beverages, most of Red Robin’s burgers provide more than half a day’s worth of calories. The Royal Red Robin Burger, for example, provides 1,196 calories, 83 g of fat and 2,113 mg of sodium. According to the American Heart Association, diets high in sodium may contribute to high blood pressure and increased risk of heart disease.

Chicken Sandwiches

Instead of choosing a burger, a chicken sandwich would appear to be a healthier option. However, Red Robin’s chicken sandwiches still have many negative nutritional aspects. The California Chicken Sandwich provides 836 calories, 44 g of fat and 2,057 mg of sodium. Although this is about half the amount of fat as in some of Red Robin’s burgers, it still is a high-fat meal. The sodium content also remains very high. A better choice is the Simply Grilled Chicken Sandwich, which provides 420 calories, 8 g of fat and 1,018 mg of sodium. While still a high-sodium sandwich, it is lower in both fat and calories than most of Red Robin's sandwiches.

In addition to providing high-calorie, high-fat sandwiches, Red Robin also carries some rather unhealthy pasta entrées. The Grilled Chicken Pesto Pasta entrée, sounds like a reasonable selection, but closer analysis reveals it contains 1,339 calories, 64 g of fat and 2,112 mg of sodium. According to the Mayo Clinic, that enough fat and sodium for an entire day's worth of eating. As an alternative to pasta, consider one of Red Robin's rice bowls, which contain 674 to 830 calories, 8 to 10 g of fat and 586 to 1,266 mg of sodium.

The more health-conscious diner might look at Red Robin’s salad selections as potentially healthy meals, but in actuality, some of the salads are unhealthier than the burgers. The Crispy Chicken Tender Salad, for example, contains 1,450 calories, 97 g of fat and 2,520 mg of sodium. Based on the Mayo Clinic's recommendations, that is well beyond a full day's worth of fat and sodium.

If you still have room for dessert, Red Robin’s options will continue to add to your calorie, fat and sodium intake. The Mountain High Mudd Pie, for instance, packs in 1,373 calories, 63 g of fat, 640 mg of sodium and 124 g of sugar. Once again, it would probably be best to share a dessert with a friend or two.
