Rally's Nutrition Guide
Rally's is a drive-thru fast food restaurant that features burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, wings and fries. The first Rally's restaurant opened in 1985 in Louisville, Kentucky, according to the Rally's website. Many of the items featured on the Rally's menu are high in calories and fat, but knowing the nutrition information can help you make an informed decision on how Rally's can fit into your meal plan.
Rally's hamburgers are made to order and include a number of different options including the Big Buford, Cheese Champ and Baconzilla. If you are watching your calorie intake, try to keep your burger order simple. The lowest calorie burger on the menu is the Chili Cheeseburger with 320 calories, 15 grams of total fat, 8 grams of saturated fat, 620 milligrams of sodium, 30 grams of carbohydrates and 18 grams of protein. The Rally Burger is another lower calorie hamburger with 390 calories, 22 grams of total fat, 8 grams of saturated fat, 680 milligrams of sodium, 32 grams of carbohydrates and 16 grams of protein. As with most fast food, both burgers are high in saturated fat. The American Heart Association recommends you limit your total saturated fat intake to less than 7 percent of your calorie intake to reduce your risk of heart disease.
Grilled Hot Dogs
The Rally's menu also includes a number of grilled hot dog options such as the Chili Cheese Dog and the Chili Dog. The Chili Cheese Dog has about the same number of calories as the Rally's burger, but is higher in saturated fat and significantly higher in sodium. One Rally's Chili Cheese Dog contains 380 calories, 23 grams of total fat, 10 grams of saturated fat, 1,120 milligrams of sodium, 28 grams of carbohydrates and 15 grams of protein. High intakes of sodium increase your blood pressure and risk of having a heart attack or stroke. The USDA's dietary guidelines for Americans recommend that you limit your daily sodium intake to less than 2,300 milligrams a day.
For the non-beef eaters, Rally's offers crispy chicken sandwiches and wings. The lowest calorie chicken sandwich is the Spicy Chicken Sandwich with 550 calories, 37 grams of total fat, 10 grams of saturated fat, 1,110 milligrams of sodium, 39 grams of carbohydrates and 17 grams of protein. If you are trying to limit your calorie intake, a five-piece order of medium Buffalo wings may be a better option for you, although the order will provide more than a day's worth of sodium. One five-piece medium Buffalo wing order has 335 calories, 18 grams of total fat, 5 grams of saturated fat, 3,420 milligrams of sodium, 2 grams of carbohydrates and 39 grams of protein.
Rally's fries come seasoned, fully loaded, loaded with bacon or with chili cheese. To limit your calorie intake, choose the seasoned fries with 350 calories, 21 grams of total fat, 6 grams of saturated fat, 990 milligrams of sodium, 36 grams of carbohydrates and 4 grams of protein.
Rally's shakes are available in chocolate, banana, vanilla or strawberry flavors. The vanilla shake has 410 calories, 9 grams of saturated fat and 40 milligrams of cholesterol. Banana weighs in at 440 calories, 9 grams of saturated fat and 60 milligrams of cholesterol; strawberry has 440 calories, 10 grams of saturated fat and 50 milligrams of cholesterol. The chocolate shake has 430 calories, 9 grams of fat and 40 milligrams of cholesterol. If you must have a shake to go with your burger, the vanilla flavor would be your best option.
