How Much Sodium is in Progresso Light Soup
Canned soups, like most canned foods, are typically high in sodium because sodium, or salt, is used as a preservative in the canning process. If you're looking to reduce your dietary intake of sodium, you need to pay attention to the nutrition facts label on the back of the can. Endorsed by Weight Watchers, Progresso Light soup comes in several flavors, all of which come in with 80 calories or less per serving. Fourteen varieties of this soup are available, including Italian-style meatball with penne, homestyle vegetable with rice, New England clam chowder, chicken and herb dumplings, and zesty Southwestern-style vegetable.
The nutrition facts label will tell you how much sodium is in one serving, breaking it down into grams or milligrams as well as listing a percentage on the right-hand side. This percentage is based on a 2,000 calorie diet. Because there are about two servings per can of Progresso Light soup, it's important to keep in mind that you'll have to double the numbers listed on the nutrition facts label if you eat the whole can.
