Feeling effing tired lately? Actress-turned-health-guru Gwyneth Paltrow wants to help you out with a new line of supplements. Goop Wellness is the next logical step for the actress who has been dishing out health and wellness advice via her lifestyle website Goop since 2008.
The vitamin packets — with clever names like Balls in the Air, High School Genes, Why Am I So Effing Tired? and The Mother Load — target the needs of a wide variety of women (and even men), ensuring there’s something for everyone.
Though the Academy Award-winning actress is obviously not a doctor, she did team up with top medical experts in their fields to create each box containing 30-day tailored daily packets, each containing four to seven vitamins. They retail for $90 for one month or $240 for three months and are sold exclusively on Goop.com.
“I am really fortunate I can go to the doctor, get a blood test and he can tell me you’re deficient in x, y and z. But for a lot of women it’s not that accessible,” Paltrow told Harper’s Bazaar. “We thought, well, wouldn’t it be amazing if we could leverage our relationships, curiosity and relationships with our doctors and create really targeted solutions?”
Paltrow partnered with New York Times best-selling author Amy Myers, M.D., for the Balls in the Air box of vitamins and supplements. This is the packet that can be used as a multivitamin by most women and men to aid overall health and well-being. It is full of antioxidant-rich beta carotene, vitamin C and vitamin E for the on-the-go woman. Buy a box and share it with the special man in your life.
To help women whose metabolisms have slowed down due to being in a perimenopausal or postmenopausal state, she collaborated with Sara Gottfried, M.D., on the box named High School Genes. This box is being promoted as a comprehensive nutritional regimen designed to provide intense support for normal glucose, energy metabolism and cellular health.
The box named Why Am I So Effing Tired? works for both men and women who have adrenal fatigue and stress. Alejandro Junger, M.D., who once suffered from the same ailments, worked with Paltrow to create this combination that includes a high dose of B vitamins. It claims it’ll rebalance an overtaxed system, replenish nutrients, improve energy levels and diminish stress.
“Adrenal fatigue is a world epidemic that’s not tested by Western doctors until it’s so extreme that it requires hospitalization — but there’s a whole spectrum of intensity to get there, which is where most people fall,” Dr. Junger told Well + Good. He also admits that Paltrow used this cocktail of vitamins herself.
Lastly, The Mother Load is here to help women both before and after giving birth. She worked with Australian physician Oscar Serrallach on this combo created to help replenish critical nutrition building blocks while giving extra support to get new moms back on their feet.
“There was a piece of content on Goop on postnatal depletion, and it went viral,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “We realized that, wow, women are having babies and not feeling like they’re recovering. We worked with the doctor from the piece, Dr. Serrallach, to develop this to help women get back on track.”
