How to Cleanse Swelling Gums

The tissue that surrounds the sensitive areas of your teeth, known as the gums, helps protect against damage. Having swollen gums often results from improper dental hygiene.   1. Pour a small amount of table salt into the bottom of your drinking glass. Fill the glass halfway with warm tap water. Mix the saltwater solution using a spoon. Raise the glass to pour some of the warm saltwater into your mouth. Swish the mixture back and forth over your inflamed gums.

  2. Spit out the saltwater solution and repeat the process with the remainder of the saltwater left in the glass. Place a small pot under a running faucet to fill it halfway. Lower the pot onto an appropriately sized burner on your stove. Utilize your stove controls to turn the burner to a high heat.

  3. Cut a lemon in half as you wait for the water to boil. Squeeze each half of the lemon into the boiling water to create a lemon water solution. Use your oven controls to turn off the burner as the water begins to bubble. Allow the heated lemon water adequate time to cool. Pour the lemon water into a clean glass.

  4. Raise the glass to pour some warm lemon water into your mouth. Swish the lemon water solution back and forth across your swollen gums. Spit out the solution after effectively coating your teeth and gums. Tear a piece of dental floss from its packaging. Insert the string-like floss between each of your teeth. Pull the floss back and forth to remove any food particles.

  5. Apply some fluoride toothpaste to the head of your toothbrush. Dampen the head of your toothbrush with some cool water. Rub the toothpaste over your inflamed gums. Rinse your mouth with water. Avoid smoking tobacco and consuming alcohol as these activities can worsen your gum inflammation.
