Have you always dreamed of having twins? If so, chances are that you have also dreamed of having babies of a certain gender. Whether you would like to have twin boys, twin girls or a boy and a girl, there are ways to increase your chances of conceiving your desired gender. In this article will look at how to have twin boys.

First of all, your odds of having twins is about 3 in 100 or 3%, but if having twins has always been a dream of yours, then there are some things you can do to increase your odds.

Increase your weight. While this may not sound very appealing, it is scientifically proven that women with a Body Mass Index over 30 have a significantly greater chance of having twins. This may also help your chances of having boys. There is a study that linked women who ate more calories and who ate breakfast (specifically cereal) to an increased chance of having a boy.

Eat yams. Studies show that twin rates are higher in populations that eat large quantities of yams. This is thought to be because yams contain a chemical which can cause hyperovulation thus increasing the chances of having twins.

Eat and drink dairy products. Eating a diet that includes dairy will make you five times more likely to have twins than eating or drinking no dairy products at all according to a 2006 study. This is thought to be the result of growth hormones given to cows reacting with a woman's hormones which increases ovulation.

Now that you know how to increase your odds of having twins, let's look at how to have boys.

Use the Shettles method. The Shettles method is a widely known low-tech method for determining a baby's gender. Women are genetically XX and can only contribute an X chromosome to the baby. Men are genetically XY and contribute either an X or a Y to the baby. If the male contributes an X, the baby is a girl. If the male contributes a Y, the baby is a boy. The Shettles method is based on the theory that Y sperm are faster but die more quickly, while Y sperm are slower but live longer. If you follow the "rules" for how to have a boy, you would need to time intercourse as close to your date of ovulation as possible to allow the faster male sperm to reach the egg first. For this method to be successful you must know your menstrual cycles, precisely your date of ovulation. For detailed instructions on finding your date of ovulation, see the resources section below.

Have an orgasm. It is believed that having an orgasm while trying to conceive can help you to conceive a baby boy. This is because orgasm can cause the vaginal environment to become more alkaline which some say is unfavorable to X sperm and therefore can be detrimental to conceiving a girl.

Eat alkaline foods. An acidic environment in the vagina is more harmful to the weaker male sperm which can hurt your chances of conceiving a boy. Eating alkaline foods can help to change the pH of the vaginal tract. Alkaline foods include things such as bananas, chocolate and potatoes.

Try certain positions. While trying to conceive a boy it is best to choose sexual positions that allow the sperm to be deposited as close to the cervix as possible. Any positions that allow deep penetration should achieve this. Male sperm are faster and do not live as long, so it's best to give them a "head start" when trying to conceive a boy.

These suggestions for how to have twin boys are not guaranteed to work. They will merely put the odds a little more in your favor. Good Luck!
