How to Remove Paint from an Eye
If you get paint in your eyes, you will need to act quickly to get it out. If you take immediate action, you can prevent a trip to the doctor and potentially severe damage to your eyes. If your eyes are still irritated or in pain after following these steps, you should seek immediate medical attention to prevent lasting damage.
Get to a water source. This could be a hose, faucet, shower or anything with clean running water.
Flush the affected eye with water repeatedly for 10 to 15 minutes, or until irritation ceases. To flush your eye, tip your head under the running water until your eye is directly underneath the stream. Ensure the water is not too hot and that the water pressure is not too high or you could further damage your eye.
Flush the unaffected eye for about three minutes to ensure any paint residue that accumulated during the rinsing process is flushed away. If irritation continues or becomes worse in either eye, contact a Poison Control Center or visit a doctor or urgent care center.
