Natural Ways of Cleaning Colon Waste
Colon cleansing is important to maintaining a healthy body. Natural health proponent and best-selling author Kevin Trudeau states in his book, “More Natural Cures Revealed,” that you need to have two to three bowel movements daily to avoid many diseases. Food that doesn’t properly digest moves too slowly through your system and gets stuck in the intestines, resulting in rancid stools that release toxins into your bloodstream says Trudeau. There are several natural ways to cleanse your colon of this toxic waste. Natural remedies, while believed beneficial, have not been medically proven to treat or cure any illness or condition.
Herbs have been used for centuries to cleanse the colon, according to Cleansing.BHealthyAgain.com. Psyllium husks contain fiber and strengthen the intestinal lining to keep your bowels moving. Flaxseed also contains fiber, reduces inflammation and moistens cell membranes. Fennel seed is known to enhance digestion, so that waste materials can move swiftly through your system. Papaya fruit contains digestive enzymes that dissolve compacted waste. Some herbs such as buckhorn bark and black walnut hulls have a laxative effect on the colon, producing a significant cleanse. Although believed to benefit colon health, psyllium husks, flaxseed, fennel seed, papaya fruit, buckhorn bark and black walnut hulls have not been medically proven to treat or prevent any condition.
Doctor of Oriental Medicine Bob Dorris says that oriental medicine corrects the function of the body and does not try to change the stool or lubricate the intestines to remove waste. Dorris recommends avoiding constipation to keep your intestines clean. Spicy hot foods, alcohol, beef, lamb and shrimp tend to dry up the intestines, according to Dr. Dorris. When you ingest cold food, iced drinks, raw foods, sweets and dairy products, they cause the intestines to lose energy says Dorris. He advises you to eat cooked vegetables and whole grains, some animal protein and to drink room temperature water. He emphasizes stress and exercise as contributing factors to slow moving intestines.
Eating and Drinking to Cleanse
Keeping your colon clean can lower your chances of getting colorectal cancer, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation and chronic diarrhea, according to chiropractor and acupuncturist Dr. Ben Kim. Kim advises you to eat enough food at meals to stimulate the stretch receptors in your stomach which cause intestinal waves to move chunks of waste along together. When stools pass quickly through the intestines, they are well formed and easier to eliminate says Kim. He recommends sufficient water intake or eating water-rich foods to prevent premature stool formation.
Kevin Trudeau says that over 90 percent of American people are constipated and suggests a home recipe for colon cleansing. Trudeau says to mix 1/3 of a cup of Castor oil with 1/3 of a cup of beer and swallow the mixture. He says to drink the remaining beer within the next half hour to get the full effects of this cleansing method. Trudeau also recommends drinking warm water mixed with two spoonfuls of Epsom salt and lying on your side to get a clean colon.
