How to Lose Weight Doing Jumping Jacks

By Sarah Mollman

The key to weight loss is to burn more calories than you put in your body. Jumping jacks are an ideal cardiovascular workout that burns calories and can help you lose weight if done while maintaining a healthy eating program. The average person weighing between 130 and 190 pounds can burn between 450 to 650 calories an hour while doing jumping jacks.

Complete as many regular jumping jacks as you can in 15 to 30 seconds. Keep track of your time by watching a clock with a second hand.

Take a 10-second break. Do not sit during this time. Do push-ups or jog in place during your break.

Continue Steps 1 and 2 for 10 minutes.

Repeat Steps 1 through 3 three to four times each day. Try doing your jumping jacks faster when the exercise starts to feel too easy.
