How to Get Rid of Pregnancy Wrinkles on Your Stomach
Pregnancy has its good points and bad points. The obvious good point is the fact that you are bringing a new life into the world and experiencing the miracle of childbirth; the bad point is that your body goes through a lot of mental and physical changes. Wrinkles on the stomach are one of those changes. You can work on minimizing them by following various steps that involve your daily routine.
Moisturize your stomach. Give yourself a daily dose of cocoa butter, aloe vera or a skin cream that contains vitamin E. This can improve the elasticity of your skin and keep it soft and moist.
When you take a shower, use a soft-bristled body brush to exfoliate the skin on your stomach. This can strip away dead skin cells and stimulate circulation. Go in a circular motion, and work from the area farthest from your heart toward it.
Eat skin-healthy foods. According to Sue Moores, RD, spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association, nutrients found in certain foods benefit the skin because they nourish from the inside out. Include these seven foods in your daily diet: sweet potatoes, salmon, snapper, kiwi, sunflower seeds, turkey and green or black tea.
Work your abdominal muscles. Working the abdominals can increase muscle tone ,which in turn can make the skin tauter. Do exercises like crunches, leg lifts, reverse crunches, planks, side bends and hanging knee raises.
Get microdermabrasion 1. In this procedure, tiny crystals are blasted against your skin and then vacuumed off. The top layer is removed and new skin growth is promoted. See your dermatologist about having this procedure performed.
Get a tummy tuck, known medically as an abdominoplasty 2. A surgeon makes an incision on the lower abdomen and repairs muscles, removes fat and tightens the skin, which in turn can remove your wrinkles.
The best time to put skin cream on is right after you step out of the shower. The pores of your skin are opened, which can help absorption.
If you choose to get a tummy tuck, you could be out of work for a few weeks and could spend a few days in the hospital.
