The fastest and the healthiest way to lose weight at home has a lot to do with self control and positive thinking. Remember that even though you may see a rapid change in your figure within the first week, the first few days to a week of weight loss is mainly due to decrease in water retention rather than actual fat loss. It is also very important that if you are reducing and changing what you eat that you ensure your new way of eating includes a regular and necessary intake of vitamins.

First Steps

There is no point dieting to an extreme to lose weight fast. This will only produce mood swings, and as soon as you start eating normally all the weight will return even faster than it took to lose it in the first place. It is also unhealthy to starve yourself. A normal and healthy portion of most foods should be about the size of your clenched fist. This is the approximate size your stomach should be naturally. Five small and healthy meals a day of this size will increase your metabolism and will also begin to shrink the size of your stomach within days.


Stay off the sugar drinks and drink only water and weak herbal teas. This will help you to detox and clean out your system while filling up your stomach if you are used to eating more. Always have a large glass of pure still water before you eat, you will surprised how quickly your stomach will feel full when you do eat if you drink your 8 glasses of water a day. As days go by you will naturally begin to eat less.

Don't Be Fooled

Avoid alcohol, especially at mealtimes, as you are likely to eat more if you do. Alcohol does not only enable you to lose your decorum but it also helps to diminish the feeling of being full, enabling you to eat more than what you would have compared to just drinking water or a fruit juice. Never eat after 6:00 p.m. if you wish to help increase the speed of your weight loss.

Exercise daily for a minimum of 30 minutes. For a fun workout, try a little dancing. Put on your favorite music and hit the dance floor or your living room floor and within a week of doing these actions you will see a huge difference in your appearance. Ensure that even if you are not hungry, you still eat a small healthy meal every two or three hours from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
