Can Certain Vitamins Shrink Pore Sizes?

Controlling the actual size of pores is virtually impossible without laser treatments or strong, intense medications. While pores may shrink while taking a product such as Accutane, once you go off it, they generally return to their original size.

Controlling the actual size of pores is virtually impossible without laser treatments or strong, intense medications. While pores may shrink while taking a product such as Accutane, once you go off it, they generally return to their original size 1. But don't get discouraged: Minimizing your pores is possible, and incorporating certain vitamins into your skincare regimen can help.

Minimizing the Appearance of Pores

Some products that contain retinol, a derivative of vitamin A, can help make your pores appear smaller. By increasing cell turnover, these products help unclog pores, which in turn minimizes their appearance. Vitamin C is also a key ingredient in cleansers and creams, as it helps increase levels of collagen and elastin; this prevents pores from stretching and expanding. Look for a facial serum containing vitamin C and apply it topically; it can cause the skin around your pores to swell slightly, so the pores will then appear to contract.
