Side Effects of SuperPump

By Brian Willett ; Updated August 14, 2017

SuperPump Max is a dietary supplement, produced by Gaspari Nutrition, intended to increase your energy levels and strength during workouts. SuperPump provides a number of energy-enhancing ingredients with which you may be familiar, such as caffeine, but it also contains more exotic ingredients, such as glucuronolactone. SuperPump use can help improve the quality of your workouts, but you should consult a doctor prior to use and educate yourself on potential side effects.

Gastrointestinal Discomfort

One of the main ingredients in SuperPump Max is creatine, an amino acid that is involved in the creation of cellular energy. Creatine may help enhance your strength, but the University of Maryland Medical Center explains that consumption of creatine may cause stomach upset and diarrhea.

Dizziness

SuperPump Max provides caffeine to enhance your energy levels during your workouts. However, Gaspari Nutrition does not reveal how much caffeine is contained in the product, so you may wish to eliminate other caffeine-containing products from your diet to avoid side effects. Drugs.com explains that caffeine use may cause dizziness, and creatine may also cause dizziness, so the potential for this side effect may be significant.

Skin Rash

SuperPump Max contains four times the daily suggested intake of vitamin B3, also known as niacin. According to MedlinePlus, large doses of vitamin B3 may cause skin rashes, and even small doses of the vitamin may cause flushing, or redness, of your skin.

Liver Damage

Multiple ingredients in SuperPump Max may trigger liver damage. The University of Maryland Medical Center explains that liver dysfunction may result from creatine use, although most studies have found creatine to be relatively safe. Large doses of niacin may also cause liver damage.

Increased Blood Pressure

SuperPump Max, as with other stimulant products, may cause increased blood pressure, as caffeine promotes this effect. However, Drugs.com notes that caffeine-induced cardiovascular effects have "rarely" caused tachycardia, or irregular heartbeat. Creatine may also produce high blood pressure.
