By Frank Whittemore

Banana cream pie is custard-type pie made with a sweet and thick banana filling baked in a flaky, pastry crust and it is often topped with whipped cream. High in carbohydrates and fat, the pie is also high in calories per serving.

The same serving of banana cream pie can deliver 19 percent of the total daily caloric intake recommended for the average person. A typical 2000 calorie per day diet was used to determine this percentage.

Banana cream pie also provides several dietary minerals including calcium, phosphorus, potassium, manganese and selenium. Vitamins in banana cream pie include vitamins A, C, K, B6, B12, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, folate and pantothenic acid.
