Where Does Whey Protein Come From?
Whey protein, a form of protein that is manufactured from milk, is an excellent source of protein for people of all ages. Consumer whey-protein products are manufactured in the form of whey protein concentrate, whey protein isolate and hydrolyzed whey protein.
Source of Whey Protein
Twenty percent of the protein in milk is in the form of whey protein, while the remaining 80 percent is from casein. When whey protein is manufactured, the first step is to change milk into curds and whey. Once that happens, the whey is separated from the curds, after which it is processed into whey protein concentrate, whey protein isolate or hydrolyzed whey protein.
