How to Make Homemade Vegetable Glycerin Roll-On Deodorant

By Tricia Ballad

Several studies, including one published by P.D. Darbre in a 2003 issue of the "Journal of Applied Toxicology," suggest a link between underarm deodorants and breast cancer. Many commercial brands contain varying amounts of parabens, which has been found in cancerous breast tissue. While a conclusive link between breast cancer and deodorants has not yet been found, making your own from vegetable glycerin is safe, inexpensive and effective.

  1. Add the witch hazel, aloe vera gel, vegetable glycerin and mineral water to the mixing bowl. Mix well with a wooden spoon.

  2. Mix in two to three drops of tea tree oil.

  3. Fill the empty deodorant tubes with the mixture.

  4. Store in a cool, dark place for up to two months.

  5. Tip

If you prefer a floral scent, substitute lavender oil for the tea tree oil. Both have antiseptic properties that help neutralize odors.

You can substitute filtered water for mineral water, if necessary.
