How to Increase a Man's Sex Drive
Sex drive in a man's life generally starts around puberty. It is at this time that hormones are running high and sexual experimentation has begun. In a perfect scenario, this sex drive will stay elevated for years to come. But as time goes on and age starts catching up with him, it often goes down. When this takes place, it can be a tough thing to deal with and it can cause issues with self-esteem and confidence. But, there are ways that this can be reversed by following some key steps.
Get in shape. According to Martika Heaner for MSN Health and Fitness, "psychological self-confidence that you get from being physically fit, accomplishing weight loss goals or simply losing weight boosts your self-esteem and helps you to feel sexier." Do some weight training and cardiovascular training five or more days a week for 30 minutes.
Get some zinc in your diet. Testosterone is the male sex hormone. If it is low, so is your sex drive. A way to boost it is by eating foods that are high in zinc. Some of these include oysters, bananas, artichokes, blackberries and avocados.
Channel the anxiety. Repetitive stress and anxiety can cause a low sex drive and also lead to impotence. Take some time to engage in relaxation activities like yoga, tai-chi, meditative breathing and massages to lower your stress levels.
Watch your intake of substances. Using illegal drugs such as heroin and marijuana are not only bad for your body, but they are also bad for your sex drive so they should be avoided. Also, if you are taking prescription drugs that are causing you to have a low sex drive, ask your doctor if there's an alternative.
Boost your levels of arginine. Arginine is one of the 20 amino acids and it can help increase sex drive and levels of blood to the genital area. Some foods that have arginine include Brazil nuts, almonds and pumpkin seeds.
