How to Remove Contacts With Miniature Suction Cups

By Paul Kemp ; Updated April 17, 2017

For some people, the idea of sticking a finger in their eye to remove a contact is too much to bear. Fortunately, there is a product that is both gentle and sanitary that makes this process much simpler for the squeamish. The contact lens suction cup makes nightly contact lens removal an easy and quick process, keeping your eyes safe and comfortable.

  1. Dip the suction end of the device in water to moisten it and help it adhere to your lens.

  2. Touch the suction cup to one of your contact lenses, as gently and as straight-on as possible, while holding onto the shaft portion of the suction device.

  3. Pull the suction cup straight out from your eye in a gentle, consistent motion.

  4. Deposit the lens into its case or receptacle sideways.

  5. Repeat steps with your other lens.

  6. Warnings

Contact lens suction cups will not work with soft contact lenses.
