Ask your dermatologist to write a prescription for a strong anti-wrinkle cream after your consultation. The Mayo Clinic explains that topical retinoids like Renova and Retin-A can help reduce wrinkles when used regularly, but they can also dry out the skin 1.
Other anti-wrinkle creams that are effective contain ingredients like alpha hydroxy acid, kinetin and copper peptides. The Mayo Clinic states that these ingredients can be found in over-the-counter skin creams, but prescription-strength creams are more effective 1.
Get a series of microdermabrasions in a salon or spa. Maryland Plastic Surgery states that microdermabrasions are FDA-approved treatments that smooth out the skin and diminish the appearance of wrinkles 1. Microdermabrasions involve a hand machine with an abrasive material like a diamond tip that removes the top layer of skin.
Getting a series of 6 to 8 treatments over time can make a big difference in your skin’s appearance. Some spas and salons give discounts for packages of microdermabrasions sold up front, so ask about any specials.

Avoid smoking and exposure to ultraviolet light. The Mayo Clinic states that smoking, going to the tanning booth and spending too much time in the sun can all lead to deep wrinkles, negating the effectiveness of anti-wrinkle treatments 1. You may want to choose to eat only in smoke-free sections of restaurants and leave if a friend or family member smokes in a room with you.
Every time you go outside, make sure that you’re wearing sunscreen on your face. If you’re going to be in the sun for a long period of time, bring a hat and enough sunscreen to re-apply every few hours.
