Choose Berries With Ellagic Acid
Most berries contain ellagic acid, although not all berries have been analyzed. Fresh red raspberries have one of the highest amounts of ellagic acid at 150 milligrams per 100 grams, while blackberries can contain 55 milligrams. Ripe strawberries contain about 63 milligrams of ellagic acid per gram. Cranberries, cloudberries, currants and grapes all contain smaller amounts of ellagic acid.
Find Ellagic Acid in Nuts and Seeds
Nuts and seeds contain ellagic acid. According to a 2010 publication in "Food Science and Technology," chestnuts, walnuts and pecans contain the highest amounts of ellagic acid, although many nuts have not yet been evaluated. Seeds from ellagic-rich berries contain this antioxidant, as do the entire fruit and seeds of the pomegranate.

Ayurveda, one of the world's oldest medical systems, lists a plant called Termininalia chebula for medicinal use. This plant is often called the "King of Medicine" and contains ellagic acid as part of its chemical composition. Exotic fruits, such as the cumu-cumu, guava and cambuci, also contain ellagic acid. Additionally, another source of ellagic acid is the beefsteak fungus, a mushroom that grows on oak and chestnut trees.
