Boil a youth Mouthguard for 35 seconds; 30 seconds if the person wears braces.
Remove the TapouT Mouthguard from the boiling water at the end of the specified time. Place the mouth guard on the towel, allowing it to soak up excess hot water. Place mouth guard in a glass of cold water for one second.
Pull back the internal walls of the TapouT Mouthguard so that you do not bite down on them. These walls are on the inside of the mouth guard's horse-shoe shape. Put the mouth guard in your mouth and press it firmly upwards into top teeth, which should be inside the mouth guard's channeled walls. Bite down firmly.
Remove the TapouT Mouthguard from your mouth. Place mouth guard in cold water for one minute to set the mold.
Determine if the mouth guard fits properly by putting it back in your mouth. A properly fitting TapouT Mouthguard should stick firmly to the upper teeth when your mouth is open. Talking should be somewhat easy.
