Drinks to Cure a Stomachache

iMan with a stomachache

A stomachache can occur for one of several reasons. You may have eaten some bad food, have a case of the nerves, or picked up a virus. You may even be suffering from a case of acid reflux. Whatever the reason, there are some drinks that you can take to help yourself feel better. Since they aren't medications, you won't have to worry about any side effects.

Ginger Drink

Purchase a bottle of ginger gel capsules that you can pull apart. The ginger powder inside these gel capsules can be dissolved in a half cup of hot water. You only need one ginger capsule per half cup of water. Give it a stir and drink it. Ginger is an all-natural herb that is known for curing stomachaches of any kind. This includes nervous stomachs and stomachs that are upset from motion sickness. Make this drink every time you have a stomachache. You can drink up to three half cups per day.

If you have an upset stomach due to acid reflux, you should drink some soda. As long as the beverage is carbonated, it will calm the acids in your stomach and give you some instant relief. If you have a stomachache from a virus, you can still use soda as a cure. Ginger ale works because of the ginger ingredient. Cola also works because of the syrup used to make the cola. In this case, you won't get any benefits out of sodas like root beer or Dr. Pepper.

Chamomile Tea

Chamomile tea is an excellent drink to have if you are suffering from a stomachache. The chamomile has the ability to calm the stomach. The important thing to remember when making this tea is not to use any milk or creamer. Dairy is something you should stay away from if your stomach hurts. You can also add a teaspoon of mint or lime juice to your chamomile tea. These ingredients help with the pain.

Pomegranate Juice

Pomegranates are a fruit rich with antioxidants. Many people may be aware of the health benefits of pomegranates but not the fact that they help cure upset stomachs. Make sure you look at the ingredients before you buy the pomegranate juice. You want an all-natural juice with no added preservatives or artificial ingredients. These can actually make your stomach hurt worse. If you don't have access to all-natural pomegranate juice, make some yourself with a few fresh pomegranates and a juicer.
