Dairy Intolerance With Back & Buttock Pain
Dairy intolerance is a general term used to describe adverse reactions that occur when you consume products that contain milk. Back and buttock pain is most likely related to a milk allergy, which can cause tension and pain in any part of your body. Lactose intolerance is another dairy intolerance that may or may not cause back and buttock pain. If your pain is from lactose intolerance, it is most likely the result of gas pains created from digestive difficulty. Talk with your doctor for a proper diagnosis.
Milk Allergy
Back and buttock pain are not common symptoms of a milk allergy but could occur from high levels of histamine released into your soft tissue. During a milk allergy, your immune system overreacts to the proteins found in milk. The overreaction causes the body to defend itself and treat the dairy proteins as invaders. This mistake triggers the production of immunoglobulin E antibodies, also called IgE antibodies. These antibodies trigger other chemicals, such as histamine to be released into the body.

Histamine is created by your mast cells and typically helps protect against infection. During an allergic reaction the amount of histamine created causes inflammation and swelling in soft tissues. This results in excessive pressure places in soft tissues throughout your body. The pain experienced in your back and buttock are caused by pressure that builds up in your inflamed muscles in those parts of the body.

Lactose Intolerance
Lactose intolerance is a condition that occurs when your digestive system cannot properly break down the sugar found in milk products. The main symptoms of lactose intolerance include bloating, gas and diarrhea. Gas pains can extend from the front of your abdomen into your back, causes sharp pains that come and go. Because the body cannot digest the lactose, it will attempt to eliminate it from your body as fast as possible. Many people with lactose intolerance experience sharp pain in the anus before passing the stool that contains the lactose.
