Ativan is used to help people suffering from anxiety, especially in cases caused by depression. It is used to help calm brain activity that is preventing a person from ridding himself of the anxiousness.
Common side effects include a general feeling of unbalance, lightheadedness, wooziness, or clumsiness. You shouldn’t operate machinery while taking this medication.
Some patients report rapid heartbeats, stomach cramps, occasional blurred vision, constipation, and sexual dysfunction. Being excessively thirsty or feeling overconfident also were among these side effects.
In rare cases some patients reported hallucinations, irrational mindsets that aren’t swayed by sound factual information, extreme thinking patterns and agitation.
This drug also can cause an increase in inappropriate displays of anger, seizures, uncontrollable movements in certain body parts, and abnormal bleeding.
This drug can become habit forming and you may find yourself addicted if you are taking it daily in high doses or have an increased desire to keep taking it to feel the desired effects. Speak to your doctor if you notice a marked change in your behavior.
