What Golf Balls Do the Professionals Use?
Golf balls are a critical tool of the trade for professional golfers, but each has their own preference in brand and type. When choosing which golf balls you want for your own bag, it is good to start by looking at which balls the pros prefer. Choose balls based on your own current level of play, then on the feel and performance out on the course. Beginners work well with balls that are created to add distance to each swing, but more experienced players lean more toward golf balls that allow for better control over each shot.
Titleist Golf Balls
The top golf pros of 2013 love Titleist, and its list of sponsored professionals backs it up. From the top-ranking PGA, LPGA, and European Tour golfers, Bubba Watson, Louis Oosthuizen, Stacy Lewis, Lee Westwood and Luke Donald all use the Titleist Pro V1x as their ball of choice. Cristie Kerr and Adam Scott prefer to have the Titleist Pro V1 in their golf bags.
Callaway Golf Balls
Callaway's history stretches back to the early 1980s when founder Ely Callaway sold his successful vineyard and turned the profits into a golf equipment empire. Major champion winners Phil Mickelson and Ernie Els, as well as top-ranking LPGA players Morgan Pressel and Sandra Gal all play the Callaway HEX Black Tour Golf Ball, while Jim Furyk prefers the Callaway HBT Dot.
TaylorMade Golf Balls
TaylorMade has joined ranks alongside Adidas and Ashworth to provide a full range of needs for professional and amateur golfers. Golf icon Greg Norman plays the TaylorMade TP golf ball, and 2013 U.S. Open champion Justin Rose prefers to stock his bag with the TaylorMade Lethal.
Bridgestone Golf Balls
Bridgestone Golf also touts an impressive lineup of pro golfers who prefer to play their products, including Hall of Famer Fred Couples and 2012 FedEx Cup champion Brandt Snedeker. Golfing legend Lee Trevino and LPGA stars Karrie Webb and Paula "The Pink Panther" Creamer play their rounds with the Bridgestone TOUR B330-RX. Couples, Davis Love III and Snedeker prefer to play the Bridgestone TOUR B330. LPGA pro Sophie Gustafson currently prefers the Bridgestone TOUR B330-RXS ball.
Nike Golf Balls
Tiger Woods, a 14-time major champion and the No. 1 player in the world at the end of the 2013 season, uses Nike golf balls and gear, and even has his own namesake Nike collection. His ball of choice is the Nike ONE Tour D, which is the same ball preferred by golfer Ross Fisher. The Nike 20XI is also a popular favorite Nike ball, favored by PGA Tour pros Nick Watney and Kyle Stanley. Anthony Kim uses the Nike 20XI-S, while Suzann Pettersen, Amanda Blumenherst, and Rory McIlroy each prefer to play with the Nike 20XI-X.
