40G Carbohydrate Diet
Any diet that restricts your calorie intake can help you lose weight, but the trick is to find a diet you can follow for the rest of your life. The low-carbohydrate diet limits your intake of foods like bread, starches, starchy vegetables and fruit, while including mostly meats, fats and low-carbohydrate vegetables. If you enjoy eating meats, then a low-carbohydrate diet is an appropriate weight loss diet choice for you. Because a 40 gram-carbohydrate diet is very low in carbohydrates, you should consult your physician before following it.
Breakfast
Your breakfast meal on a 40g carbohydrate diet should be limited to 12g of carbohydrates. When following a low-carbohydrate diet, read food labels to find hidden sources of carbohydrates, especially foods like condiments. For example, 1 tbsp. of catsup contains 4g of carbohydrates and 1 tbsp. of low-sodium soy sauce contains 1g of carbohydrates. A low-carbohydrate breakfast meal on a 40g carbohydrate diet may include three scrambled eggs with three slices of turkey bacon and one tomato roasted in the oven with olive oil. You can also make a three egg omelet with 1 oz. of Swiss cheese and 1 cup of raw spinach cooked into the omelet.
