Can Walking Affect the Rate of Digestion?

By S. Grey

Even if you feel more like lounging around after a meal, taking a walk has surprising effects on your digestive system. Instead of laying on the couch, take a brief walk to get your digestive juices flowing. In turn, you'll likely feel less bloated and you'll be closer to feeling like you're walking on air.

Get Your Gut Moving

Walking can get your gut into gear. According to research published in the March 2008 issue of the "Journal of Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases," walking speeds up your rate of digestion. This is because walking stimulates your midsection, thus helping your digestion system rise to the occasion. You can walk for as little as 15 minutes to help your body digest your meal faster.
