The heart is responsible for pumping blood to other parts of your body. When plaque builds up in the arteries in your heart, it forces the heart to pump harder, increasing the risk of heart attack. Eating foods such as raw fruits and vegetables and those rich in fiber and low in cholesterol can increase the amount of oxygen to the heart and reduce the amount of plaque in the arteries.

These foods contain less fat, reducing the amount of fat deposits on the arteries. Fewer fat deposits means that blood can flow more easily. Include foods such as:

- bran in your diet to improve your heart muscle function
Lean proteins allow your body to burn fat and gain lean muscle, including your heart. Eat such foods as lean turkey, chicken and beef to allow your body to burn the fat around your heart more effectively and increase your heart's muscle strength. These foods are also low in cholesterol. Eating them regularly will reduce the amount of plaque in your arteries, which will allow the blood to flow better. Lean protein is also important for the proper growth and repair of muscles and tissues, which will also increase the productivity of your heart as it beats.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Health.com states that eating foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids may reduce your blood pressure and keep clots from happening 3. When your heart is functioning properly with a lower blood pressure, it can allow you to build healthy muscle through exercise without the risk of heart attack or abnormal blood pressure spikes. Salmon, tuna and nuts all contain a substantial amount of omega-3 fatty acids.
When LDL levels are low and HDL levels are high, it reduces your risk of coronary artery disease and enables your heart to pump freely 1. Avocados and oils such as fish and olive are great options.
