Carbohydrate foods are your body's main source of energy, but the type of carbs you eat can impact your health. It's important to get your carbs from whole foods such as avocados rather than refined and processed breads and pastas. Add sliced avocado to your salad or mash an avocado to make a guacamole dip for your vegetables.

Carbohydrates in Avocados

Avocados are a good source of healthy carbohydrates because they also contain fiber and healthy fats and are cholesterol-free. A cup of peeled and sliced avocado -- about 146 grams -- contains 12.5 grams of carbohydrates, 10 grams of fiber and only 1 gram of sugar. It also gives you 21.5 grams of total fats, most of which are the healthy, unsaturated type, and 3 grams of protein.
