Relora and Cortisol

Relora is a combination of phellodendron and magnolia bark extracts.(See Ref.3) According to Dr. Oz, both plants have been used by Chinese herbalists for thousands of years as stress reducers. He adds Relora might help you prevent weight gain, shed excess pounds and reduce stress eating by inhibiting cortisol production.(See Ref. 4) Cortisol is a steroid hormone involved in metabolism that signals the body to burn fat for energy. When overstressed, cortisol may tell the body to burn protein instead, leading to weight gain around the abdominal area.(See Ref. 5)A study published in 2013 in the "Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition" discovered Relora lowered participants' cortisol levels.(See Ref. 3) A small study in the January 2006 edition of "Alternative Therapies in Health & Medicine" determined Relora helped marginally lower cortisol levels and kept participants from gaining additional weight.(See Ref. 6) Dr. Oz recommends taking 250 milligrams three times daily.(See Ref. 4)
