Calories is a term used to describe the energy units contained in all the food and drinks you consume. Running six miles on a regular basis is a very effective activity for burning calories.
Your weight relates directly to the number of calories you burn during a six-mile run. If you weigh 125 pounds and run at 6 mph, you burn 600 calories. Running at the same speed but with a starting weight of 155 pounds burns 744 calories. If you weigh 185 pounds, you burn 888 calories.
The Stanford School of Medicine states that regular running sessions reduce the incidence of cardiovascular disease, and are associated with a reduced risk of early death due to cancer, neurological diseases, infections and other conditions.
Always invest in a new pair of running shoes if you're planning on running six miles regularly. Plan your journey, and wear brightly colored clothing if you run at dusk or dawn.
