By Brandy Burgess

Increases in height can happen at any age. While children nearing puberty have an increased chance of growing taller, adults past their growth spurt years may still be able to add to their height. Getting taller is dependent on several factors, including environment, heredity and present age. Proper nutrition, sleep, posture and height maximizing exercises can aid in height increase. Individuals must realize that there is no surefire way to get taller at any age, but several techniques may help.

Step 1

Take vitamin supplements after each meal for efficient absorption. Vitamin A, B12, C, D, E, F and K promote growth and aids in a healthy body. Seek the advice of a physician to determine the proper dosages suitable for the individual.

Step 2

Take mineral supplements daily to boost growth and regulate body functions. Calcium, chromium, chlorine, fluoride, iodide, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and zinc should be taken in dosages recommended by a physician.

Step 3

Perform stretching exercises twice each day. Begin with preliminary warm-up stretching for 15 minutes. Extend the arms and legs to their limit and twist the body in every possible direction. Rotate the head up, down, to the right and to the left.

Step 4

Sleep between 8 and 10 hours every night. Keep your spine straight with arms and legs extended as you rest. Choose a firm mattress that provides full body support. Avoid using pillows that cause the back to arch in an unnatural position.

Step 5

Maintain correct posture when sitting and standing. Train each part of the body to stay erect when sitting in a chair or standing for any period of time. Hold your head up straight and do not walk slumped over.

Step 6

Speak with a physician about medications that aid in growth. Hormonal stimulators may be prescribed to prompt the pituitary gland to secrete growth hormones that may increase height. Take the medication as directed for the maximum results.

Step 7

Request an appointment for an acupressure or reflexology session. Traditional body massage therapists can apply pressure to certain points on the palms and feet that will stimulate the pituitary gland to secrete growth hormones.
