Difference Between Phentermine & Phendimetrazine

By Brian Vaughan ; Updated July 27, 2017

Phentermine and phendimetrazine are both popular medications known for their ability to assist in weight loss. Both are most effective in conjunction with more traditional weight loss methods, such as exercise and a healthy diet.

Phentermine is a stimulant, while phendimetrazine is a sympathomimetic amine. Both drugs are very similar in composition to an amphetamine.

Both phentermine and phendimetrazine work by stimulating the central nervous system. This action results in increased heart rate and blood pressure and also a reduction in appetite.

Side Effects

Users of phentermine and phendimetrazine should be cautious when operating machinery or driving. Phentermine is known to cause pulmonary hypertension if taken along with other drugs, while phendimetrazine can result in physical and mental dependence.

Neither phentermine nor phendimetrazine should be taken by anyone who has heart disease, high blood pressure, or a history of dependence on drugs or alcohol.

It is best to consult a physician before taking either phentermine or phendimetrazine. Both drugs are similar in ingredients and results, but each has different side effects that could affect users differently.
