Deficiencies

Deficiencies of various vitamins have been known to cause paresthesia, or a numb, tingling sensation. Deficiencies of B vitamins 1, 5 and 12 are associated with this disorder.

Menopause

In women with tingling feet, menopause could be the culprit. During menopause, hormones can become greatly imbalanced, which can cause tingling in the extremities, most commonly felt in the feet.

Poor Circulation

Having a circulatory system that does not properly regulate the flow of blood around the body is often the cause of the tingling sensation felt in the extremities, especially the feet.

Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD)

A more serious form of poor circulation is peripheral vascular disease (PVD), which could be the cause of foot tingling at night. PVD is the disease of the arteries and veins of the extremities and disrupts the flow of blood to and from these areas, which causes a tingly or numb sensation.

Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS)

This is a neurological disorder that causes a person to have an irresistible, involuntary urge to constantly keep the feet and legs moving. People with RLS often experience a tugging or itchy sensation or a tingling feeling much like when the leg falls asleep. Symptoms often are worse at night.
