By J. Lang Wood

Keeping blood sugar within normal range takes rigorous blood testing and close attention to both diet and exercise levels. If you are having difficulty controlling your blood sugar level, consult your physician. Further education about how to control your blood sugar or a change of medication may be necessary.

If you are taking insulin, give yourself insulin injections at the proper time and in the proper amount to keep your blood sugar under control. If you take diabetes medication by mouth, make sure you take them as directed and at the correct time. If you are still having difficulties with blood sugar regulation, talk with your doctor.

What you are eating each day can make a big difference in your blood sugar levels. Avoiding these foods, or eating them only in very small amounts, will help keep your blood sugar steady. Eat foods with a low glycemic index, and eat less so your body metabolizes the sugar already in your bloodstream.
