Raw Spinach and Magnesium
You can find magnesium mostly within the soft tissues and bones of the body 1. This mineral plays a role in bone structure, energy, muscle and nerve function, and blood glucose and blood pressure regulation. Magnesium is naturally found in plant-based foods, meats and fortified foods. Because magnesium is so abundant, healthy people likely won't have a problem getting enough.

Raw spinach, along with other leafy greens, are good sources of magnesium. One cup of raw spinach contains 24 milligrams of magnesium. The daily value for magnesium is 400 milligrams, and a cup of raw spinach provides 20 percent of the daily value based on a 2,000-calorie diet.

It is important to store spinach properly to retain as many nutrients as possible. Frozen spinach is flash frozen and has more nutrients than fresh spinach. However, when buying raw spinach, store it in the refrigerator in a bag. It will stay fresh for up to 4 days. Make sure to wash it before consumption.
