How to Drink Tea of Dandelion

Dandelion tea is a bitter tea commonly made from dandelion root powder, which can be purchased at health food stores. When sweetened with sugar or honey, dandelion tea can be enjoyed as a bittersweet hot or cold tea. Dandelion tea can be used for a variety of medicinal purposes, including as a mild diuretic and as an appetite stimulant. Consult your physician prior to using dandelion tea to treat any medical condition.

Boil 1 cup of water in a pot.

Mix 2 tsps. of dandelion root powder into the boiling water.

Reduce the heat to allow the tea to simmer for 30 seconds.

Place the lid on the pot and allow the tea to seep for five minutes.

Put the coffee filter over the mug. Place a rubber band over the coffee filter on the mug to keep it in place.

Pour the dandelion tea slowly into the mug. The coffee filter will catch any remaining powder particles.

Remove and discard the rubber band and coffee filter.

Sweeten the tea with honey or sugar to taste.

Sip the tea slowly. Enjoy up to three cups of dandelion tea each day. According to "Making Plant Medicine," drinking more than three cups of dandelion tea daily can cause dehydration due to its diuretic effect.
