How Much Caffeine Is in Coffee Ice Cream?
Coffee ice cream may seem like the perfect treat, but consider consuming it in moderation. Along with caffeine, it provides excess sugar and fat. Caffeine content varies by recipe. Some commercial recipes use coffee flavorings rather than actual coffee. Recipes containing higher amounts of coffee typically contain more caffeine. Take this into consideration if you're consuming caffeine from other sources too.
How They Stack Up
Recipes that rely more on flavorings than actual coffee content may contain as little as 1 milligram of caffeine. Other coffee ice cream recipes contain anywhere from 17 to 52 milligrams of caffeine per 4-ounce serving, according to the Center for Science in the Public Interest. Some specialty recipes focus on the caffeine content. One such coffee ice cream contains 125 milligrams of caffeine in a 4-ounce serving, according to the manufacturer's website.
