What Are the Benefits of Calcium Lactate?

Calcium lactate is a medication used to help reverse the symptoms of calcium deficiencies. Calcium is necessary for bone, tooth and tissue maintenance, as well as for muscle and nerve function. According to Dr. George Obikoya, an expert in vitamin deficiencies, prolonged lack of calcium can result in rickets in children and osteoporosis in adults. Both of these conditions cause weakened bones and result in an increased risk for fractures. Because of this, studies have shown that people who intake optimal amounts of calcium have lower blood pressure. Supplementing with about 1,000 mg of calcium each day could significantly reduce your blood pressure.

Weight Management

In recent studies, correlations between calcium and weight management have been shown. The assumption behind the correlation is that increased calcium intake can reduce concentrations of calcium in fat cells by lowering the production of the parathyroid hormone and an active form of vitamin D, says AlgaeCal, a plant-based calcium manufacturer. This process in turn seems to increase the breakdown of fat in these cells.
