How to Make Your Eyebrows Thicker
Plucking and waxing are two ways that women groom their eyebrows to maintain a natural yet glamorous shape. Yet overplucking or waxing too much of the eyebrow is common. Many women end up upset that they've made their eyebrows much sparser than they had planned on. If you’ve accidentally overplucked or waxed too much of your eyebrows, or you have naturally thin eyebrows, it is possible to get them to grow thicker. Growing thicker eyebrows isn’t difficult but it takes some extra care and a few good products.
Avoid all types of hair removal such as tweezing, threading or waxing while your brows grow thicker. Even if you see a few stray hairs and decide that you want your brows to look shapelier, avoid the temptation to remove any hairs. Doing so only increases the risk of overplucking again and making your eyebrows thinner. Wait at least one full month before removing any hairs in the eyebrow area. This will give your eyebrow hair plenty of time to grow. Use a light brown eyebrow pencil to fill in the sparse areas in your brows while they grow thicker.
Apply an eyelash growth product to your brows in the morning and evening. Dermatologist Audrey Kunin explains on her website, DermaDoctor.com, that many different companies make over-the-counter eyelash growth products that are all natural and effective. These products use ingredients like vitamins, essential oils and amino acids to stimulate growth. Since they are primarily meant for use on the eyelashes, you know they are gentle enough for use on the brows. Look for an eyelash growth serum at your local drugstore or beauty supply store.
Talk to your dermatologist about the possibility of using minoxidil to regrow your eyebrows. Minoxidil, which comes in cream form, is a drug used to treat hair loss. Minoxidil can be very effective in stimulating the growth of new hair and preventing hair loss. Yet there are risks associated with the use of minoxidil, especially if used around the eyebrows. Therefore, it is important to discuss the option with your dermatologist first.
Avoid intense scrubbing when you take off your eye makeup at night. The website TeensHealth recommends never rubbing the area with a towel, as this could remove more hairs. If you want to remove eye makeup on the brows, gently dip a cotton swab in eye makeup remover and swipe it along the brows.
