During an appearance on “Late Night With Seth Meyers” on Wednesday, Lena Dunham opened up, in her typical candid fashion, about suffering a “sex-scene injury” while filming her HBO show, “Girls.” The injury was so bad she ended up in physical therapy.
The actress, who was attempting to act like she was getting it on in the wheelbarrow position (which she demonstrated to the audience), said the injury happened when she was trying to do more than she was able to, saying: “I was basically telling my scene partner I could do physical things that I can’t actually do,” she told Meyers. “I was like, ‘I may not seem athletic, but I’m a beast, and I can do … my hip flexors are so open, according to my yoga teacher — I can do anything. Do not worry about my body at all.’”
Dunham then went on to explain that it wasn’t until the next morning that she realized something was definitely not right and made her way to her physical therapist. Shockingly (not really), Dunham told Meyers that she initially held back the real source of her injury and made up excuses about how she got injured. Only when she finally fessed up to faux sex as the culprit was the therapist able to properly help her.
