How to Ride a Bike to Lose Weight

If you don't like going to the gym every day, find ways to exercise and lose weight that you find more enjoyable. Bicycle riding fun is way to lose weight and it's a relatively cheap and effective method. The only equipment that you need is a bicycle.

Take time to shop for your bicycle. Look for a model that you are comfortable on and can imagine riding for an extended period of time.

Plan to ride at least half an hour a day, four times a week. If you want to lose weight, you need to ride on a regular basis. As you get used to riding, you want to ride for 45 minutes or longer each time.

Map out your bike path. If you don't want to time your ride, use distance to measure how long you ride. You might choose to start riding just a few miles then increasing the distance that you go each time.

Get a stationary bike for when you are unable to ride outside. If you want to lose weight on a bike, you need to ride a lot. If the weather is bad, you can pedal for 30 minutes to an hour on a stationary bike.
