How to Make Your Own Stanley Cup

By Christopher Michael

The Stanley Cup is awarded to the winner of the National Hockey League playoffs and is the most iconic trophy in North American sports. After a team wins, each player takes turns parading the trophy around the ice; they raise it high at championship parades and drink champagne from its bowl. You and your friends can join the fun. Hoisting this homemade replica after your team wins the cup will enliven your championship celebration.

Step 1

Place the base bucket upside down on the ground.

Step 2

Glue the neck of the Stanley Cup to the base using a hot glue gun or super glue. Apply glue to the rim of the bowl-shaped plastic storage container. Put the plastic storage container upside-down on top of the center of the base.

Step 3

Glue the plastic party bowl to the assembly. Put a liberal amount of glue on the bottom of the plastic party bowl and set it firmly on top of the neck of the trophy. Allow the glue to dry.

Step 4

Wrap duct tape around the joints between the base, neck and party bowl to reinforce the trophy.

Step 5

Cover the whole assembly with tin foil or apply silver spray paint. Use glue to hold down loose ends of the tin foil. Allow the glue or spray paint to dry.
