A yoga breathing and facial exercise called alternate nostril breathing is one way to reshape your nose. A 2007 article in the NY Times said that alternate nostril breathing will sculpt and narrow your nose. This exercise is also said to integrate the right and left hemispheres of the brain. Do this facial exercise daily for nose reshaping and relaxation.
To do the exercise, sit in a comfortable cross-legged position. Bring your right hand to your nose and close off your right nostril with your thumb. Breathe in through your left nostril only. Use your pinky and ring finger to close off your left nostril and breathe out through your right nostril. Try to exhale for twice as long as you inhale, so if you inhale for two seconds, exhale for four. Breathe in through your right nostril and then close it with your thumb. Breathe out through your left nostril. This whole process is considered one repetition. Do three reps daily and work up to seven. Try to increase the time of your breaths to four seconds in and eight seconds out.
Facial yoga and facial gymnastics provide isometric exercises for the muscles of your face that can give you a natural nose-lift by firming up the muscles of the face. There are a variety of exercises to lift your face and firm up the skin by your nose to remove wrinkles. These exercises are meant to be done daily and diligently.
One example is called the Face Lifter. This will give you a natural nose-lift, as well as lift the surrounding muscles to help reshape the nose. Make an "o" shape with your mouth. Suck in your lips so they cover your teeth. You should feel the muscles around the nose and cheeks tightening. Shut your eyes and look up. Now, tilt your head back and lift your chest. Bring your hands slowly up over your head and concentrate on tightening all the muscles in your face. Hold the lift for 10 to 20 seconds. Repeat the whole process a total of five times.
The laugh lines between your mouth and nose can be firmed and smoothed away with facial exercises. An example exercise to transform your laugh lines is to take a deep breath in and puff out your cheeks--think of a trumpet player. You can look in a mirror and see the appearance of the lines reduce as you hold your breath. Try to keep your cheeks out for 60 seconds and then breathe out slowly through your nose. Do five more reps.
