A roly poly is a roll or a series of rolls that require some flexibility to execute. Stretch and relax your muscles before throwing yourelf into this exercise. Prepare to expend some energy.
Prepare a yoga mat or a series of tumbling mats. If you are outside, choose a grassy, padded area.
Decide to do a single roly poly or a series of rolls. You'll need more space and guidance for multiple rolls.
Stand up straight and examine your path. Make sure there are no obstructions or people who might enter your space.
Bend your knees and place your hands on the mat or ground. Keep your feet a few inches apart as you roll.
Tuck your head to your chest. Use your arms to guide you downward as you begin to the roly poly. Use the weight of your upper body to get started.
Use your feet to kick off from the mat, but keep your knees tucked to your chest. If you wish to do multiple rolls, keep your hands on the mat as you come up and push off with your feet again.
