How to Customize a Football Jersey

By Alan Kirk

Whether they are worn to support a fan's favorite team or worn by players, football jerseys can be customized to reflect personal tastes. You can add your own name to an NFL-style jersey, or create personalized graphics for your local youth or amateur league football team jersey. You can customize jerseys online, through retailers or on your own using your own supplies.

Customize Football Jerseys Online

Visit http://www.teamfootballuniforms.com. At this Web site you can choose a football uniform style and customize it however you wish using a wizard program.

Select either a man's, youth's or woman's jersey from the main page. This will take you to a selection of jerseys that you can order either blank or customized.

Choose the base colors of your jersey, using the jersey color selection palette on the left-hand side of the screen. At any time you can choose either the front or the back of the shirt from the middle of the left-hand side of the page, where your design options are listed.

Add text by clicking on the "Add Text" selection on the left side of the screen and then clicking anywhere on the jersey where you wish to add text. This is a good way to add team names, player names, uniform numbers and nicknames.

Select the "Upload" tab under the "Design" tab on the left side of the screen. Here you can upload any images you have saved on your computer, and then click on your jersey and add it to your design. You can also do this with Clip Art under the "Clip Art" tab of the design section.

When you are happy with your design, save your design by clicking on the "Save" button on the top right of the screen.

Choose the option to pay for your custom-made jersey, and select your shipping preference. The company will print the jersey and send it to you.

Customize a Football Jersey at Home

Purchase a football jersey from a local sports apparel shop or online.

Using 3-inch letter decals, label the back of your football jersey with your last name, first and last name, or first initial and last name.

Purchase 8-inch decals to use for putting your number on the back of your jersey. Attach these numbers in the center of the back of your jersey.

Purchase paint that can be used on cloth shirts. Use it paint to add any additional details you wish to your football jersey. This could be a logo, or freestyle paint designs on each player's jersey. Be creative.

Apply decal stickers to the shoulder areas of the jerseys as rewards for special accomplishments. Use different stickers for tackles, touchdowns, winning a game ball for a game, and other achievements to differentiate among players and allow them to use their jerseys as not just a uniform, but a display of status on the team.
