How to Create Your Own School Logo for Free

By Foye Robinson

A school logo says a lot about your school, your mascot and what you stand for. It may or may not include text, but often includes colorful designs with an image of an animal, bird or other symbol. It's a good idea to consult with your school administrator before designing a school logo, so you can get ideas for the design and colors. You can create a logo for your school for free using resources you already have or can access quickly.

Create a rough draft of the school logo (based on the information you've gathered from your school administrator). Don't worry if you're not an artist. Use basic shapes to represent where you want the images and/or text placed within the logo.

Find a free image for your school logo online or by using the clip art gallery on your computer. Alternatively, create an image yourself using Paint or MacPaint. If your school already has an image it would like to use, scan it into your computer or request a copy by email and save the file.

Go to freelogomaker.onlinelogomaker.com to create a free school logo online.

Follow your logo draft to create the design you want. To delete any existing images from the working area, select the object with your mouse and click on the red "X" in the left pane.

Import your own images or picture by selecting "Add Picture." Browse to find the image you want to use in the school logo and select it with your mouse to drag it where you'd like it to appear.

Add text to the free logo by clicking on "Add Text." Add shadows and shadow options to the text or change the font and style. To change the alignment, click on the "Align" options under "Text Format." To change the size, click on the "Object Position/Size."

Add symbols to the design by clicking on "Add Symbol" and choosing a design that matches the draft of your school logo. If you've already created a different symbol, simply upload it. Otherwise, check out the available options. Change the fill or outline colors for the symbol and add shadows to give it a three-dimensional effect.

Rearrange the school logo the way you want. Drag any text, image or symbol to the correct areas and make the objects overlap in the working area until the logo looks right.

Save the finished product by selecting "Save Logo." A new page will open. Click on the "Download logo" link to save the image on your computer. The logo will be saved as a .png graphics file.
